I asked a Minecraft server host some questions so that people who are thinking about playing the game have some insight, here is the interview:
Q: What got you interested in Minecraft?
I started playing Minecraft during late 2008, my brother showed me the game, from then on I played single players worlds, Minecraft servers, and learned things about the game.
Q: How did you end up with your own server?
In about 2011 I decided to formulate ideas for a server, on October 15, 2012 I created a real server, and have started to gain a community ever since. I have encountered many errors, I have seen countless players join, play for a little while, and then leave soon after joining. But in the end, the only thing that matters is the community, and the people that are involved in the creation of the server.
Q: You also told me you changed to a new server, how is that going?
As of recent, the server that I've created has gained a much larger following/player count, and donations have increased a bit more than the usual amount, and plugins are much nicer. The server was created through a lot of trial and error, but when it comes to development of a Minecraft server, that is always necessary. Although I feel the hard work is finally paying off.
For most the idea is to play the game and enjoy the community, It takes many hours per day to host a server properly, so that is not for everyone.
